The resulting PDF is not like Word, which puts the language attribute in the Tag tab (middle tab) of the Properties dialogue, not in the left tab. The Character style will add the language attribute to the yellow bankers box container or a tag that encases the letters/words. You'll see this in the Content (left) tab in the Properties dialogue for the tag (and not in the Tag or middle tab).

The Paragraph style will add the language attribute to the tag. Remember, use a Paragraph Style if the entire paragraph will be in the foreign language, and a Character Style if only a letter or few words will be in it. In the style settings, set the local language under Advanced Character Formats. The InDesigner needs to create a new Paragraph Style or Character Style for each foreign language in the document.

The first part of the document where authors and organizations are listed the language is honored for graphics and figures but not for text. I see similar issues with both Jaws and nvda.Ĭonsistently throughout the document the French language setting is not being honored for headings and tables.

I am having problems getting the language settings to work in certain parts of the document when using acrobat reader. I am really in a quandary with regard to this document.
